Dyslexia Trainings

Nov. 13th, 2017
Dyslexia Workshop Day #1
  • Location: Administrative Services Center Board Room, 21005 S. School Rd., Peculiar, MO
  • Time: 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Cost: Day 1 Only: $100 / Day 1 and 2: $185 (Districts or schools will be invoiced at completion of training.)

  • Description: Terry Clinefelter will present a one-day workshop on dyslexia hosted by the Raymore-Peculiar school district. This one day workshop is designed to assist teachers in their understanding of dyslexia and students who suffer from mild to severe dyslexia. Approximately 1 in 5 students are dyslexic. Teachers often have a student that has received a diagnosis of dyslexia or displays symptoms of dyslexia and has significant difficulty learning to read. The following issues are addressed:
    • What dyslexia is and common myths.
    • What are symptoms of dyslexia and how is it diagnosed?
    • How do dyslexic students differ from the normally developing reader?
    • What instruction and educational accommodations are needed for the dyslexic?
    • Instruction can prevent and remove the hurdles for the dyslexic struggling to learn to read.

  • Description:The second day of training identifies PTR strategies that address learning needs of dyslexic students. It will include updates of PTR strategies and materials presented in 2017 trainings. It is specifically designed for PTR trained teachers. However, the information shared can be beneficial to any classroom teacher and teachers wanting to know about PTR instructional strategies.
